GHRP-2 5mg, or growth hormone-releasing peptide 2, is a synthetic peptide. This peptide belongs to a class of compounds known as growth hormone secretagogues, which stimulate the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. GHRP-2 has shown promise in various studies, both in animals and in vitro, for its potential effects on body composition, growth, and anabolic properties.

Phung et al. tested the effect of GHRP-2 on growth and growth hormone release in swine in a research study.1GHRP-2 administration led to dose-dependent stimulation of growth hormone release, with peak concentrations and the growth hormone area under the response curves significantly higher than those observed with saline. Chronic administration of GHRP-2 consistently stimulated growth hormone release, although a partial attenuation of the GH response was observed between days 1 and 10 of treatment. Moreover, GHRP-2 administration resulted in improved growth performance, as indicated by increased average daily weight gain and feed efficiency, without significantly affecting daily feed intake. These findings suggest that GHRP-2 can enhance GH release and promote growth performance in swine.

Another study investigated the effects of GHRP-2 on arthritic rats. The rats were induced with arthritis and then treated with  GHRP-2 or saline for eight days. Arthritis led to increased serum ghrelin levels and decreased leptin levels, while GHRP-2 administration increased leptin concentrations. GHRP-2 improved the external symptoms of arthritis, reducing the arthritis score and paw volume. It also decreased serum levels of interleukin 6 (IL-6), an inflammatory marker. In vitro experiments showed that GHRP-2 and ghrelin inhibited IL-6 release from immune cells. These findings suggest that GHRP-2 has anti-inflammatory effects in arthritic rats, possibly mediated through ghrelin receptors on immune cells.2

GHRP-2 has been found to have direct effects on cardiac function. In a study, isolated rat hearts were subjected to ischemia followed by reperfusion, and GHRP-2 was administered before and during reperfusion. Ischemia/reperfusion-induced cardiac dysfunctions, such as increased left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and decreased left ventricular developed pressure (LVDP), were observed. However, treatment with GHRP-2, particularly at a dose of 10 nmol/L, resulted in improved cardiac function during reperfusion. GHRP-2 reduced LVEDP, increased LVDP, and improved parameters related to contractility. These beneficial effects were independent of growth hormone secretion and had no impact on heart rate. Thus, GHRP-2 demonstrated cardioprotective effects in rat hearts subjected to ischemia/reperfusion injury, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent for cardiac conditions.3
