Sermorelin 2mg is a synthetic analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). Sermorelin contains 29 amino acids and is the shortest peptide with all the biological effects of GNRH. The 29 amino acids that makeup sermorelin are the first 29 of the 44 amino acids that comprise the natural GNRH backbone. (1)

The peptide stimulates the release of GH from the cells of the anterior pituitary glands. In a laboratory study in rats, intravenous administration of sermorelin led to a 17% increase in GH release in 15 minutes when compared to control animals. (2) A similar effect was reported in pigs at a dose of 250 ng/kg. (3)

Sermorelin stimulates GH release by binding to the GHRH receptor much like naturally-occurring growth hormone releasing factor (GRF) does. This peptide is useful for carrying out in vitro experiments to understand growth as well as pharmacokinetics. (4,5) Given the relatively short half-life of about 12 minutes, sermorelin can be used in short-time experiments with immediate effects on growth. Thus, with the rapid and short effect of the peptide, researchers can run experiments requiring repeated exposure to sermorelin.

Sermorelin has also been found to suppress glioma cell growth in recurrent glioma patients. (5) This effect of sermorelin was attributed to its ability to block cell cycle progression or prevent nuclear division in glioma cells. Furthermore, sermorelin was linked to the immune system process and was found to adversely affect immunological checkpoints and M0 macrophages. (5)

Sermorelin is synthesized and commercially distributed for research purposes only. It can be harmful if administered to human beings. In the case of accidental ingestion, medical help should be sought out immediately.

Sermorelin comes as a lyophilized white powder with a concentration of 2 mg/vial.
