Mechano Growth Factor (MGF) 2mg peptide refers to a synthetic peptide that corresponds to the C-terminal part of the MGF. It consists of 24 amino acids derived from the MGF isoform. Researchers have synthesized this peptide to study its potential effects on muscle growth and repair.1

Studies have provided evidence supporting the positive role of MGF and its derivatives in tissue repair processes. These findings highlight the ability of MGF to enhance cell proliferation, cell migration, and cell protection against injury-induced apoptosis. In the context of muscle tissue, MGF serves as a local factor that aids in tissue repair by increasing the population of satellite cells or muscle progenitor cells following damage.2

In one such study, researchers explored the effects of MGF on the healing of injured tendons in rats. The study aimed to investigate the potential therapeutic benefits of MGF in promoting tendon repair. The researchers induced tendon injuries in rats and then administered MGF to a group of rats while another group received a control treatment. The healing process was assessed by analyzing parameters such as tendon morphology, collagen organization, cell proliferation, and gene expression related to tendon healing. The results of the study demonstrated that MGF treatment significantly improved tendon healing in the rats.3

Another stream of research investigated the potential of MGF as a neuroprotective agent. In an in vitro setup, researchers studied the effects of MGF on protecting dopamine neurons from neurotoxic stress. To stop cell death and apoptosis brought on by neurotoxins, MGF increased the expression of a cell defense mediator called HO-1. It maintained mitochondrial function and showed neuroprotective effects in rats.4

Additionally, in vitro studies have investigated the signaling pathways involved in MGF-mediated effects. For example, researchers have examined the activation of Akt signaling, which plays a role in cell survival and growth. These studies have contributed to a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms through which MGF exerts its biological effects.5
